Prof Dr. Yusuf al Qaradhawi ada menjelaskan hukum mogok lapar ketika menjawab satu soalan yang diajukan kepadanya mengenai hukum mogok lapar oleh tahanan ummat Islam di dalam penjara Israel . Syeikh Yusuf Al- Qaradhawi menjawab :
Mereka adalah pejuang keadilan! Mogok (lapar) adalah hak mereka yang telah diiktiraf yang bertujuan untuk membongkar segala bentuk kezaliman dan kejahatan yang dilakukan ke atas mereka !
Oleh itu menjadi kewajipan ke atas setiap orang Islam untuk memberikan sokongan padu kepada mereka mengikut kemampuan masing-masing samada secara sokongan aman, demontrasi atau sokongan moral termasuklah secara mogok lapar ! atau menghantar telegram dan mengeluarkan kenyataan rasmi untuk merasakan dan menzahirkan bahawa kita adalah senantiasa bersama-sama dengan mereka !

In memory of many fallen or injured cyclists around the world, a group of concerned Malaysian cycling enthusiasts has come together and formed “Share Our Roads” Group.
Cycling is a popular sport for many; it is increasingly popular day by day. With the love of sport, many cyclists will ride their bicycles on the road which is also shared. Road is for everyone’s transportation usage, therefore we would like to bring up this “Share Our Roads” Campaign to the public to create awareness of safety distance among vehicles and cyclists.
A picture speaks a thousand words; let our voices all be heard. We have started a first of a kind Picture Petition campaign in conjunction with “Share Our Roads” message; trying to bring out the awareness to all road users.
We are seeking for more public support for our next Global Event namely: Ride of Silence. The mission of the Global Ride of Silence is to honor bicyclists killed by motorists, promote sharing the road, and provide awareness of bicycling safety. We are proud of placing Malaysia as one of the participating countries in the global event.
The group’s first event was during Earth Hour 2012, whereas the next event is the Global Ride of Silence /Kuala Lumpur. We are in the midst to do route planning with DBKL and will bring the plan to Bukit Aman for proper permits and licenses application for this event to increase the safety level for the participants; hence we shall expect more to join in with us.
There is an ever increasing number of vehicles on the road, it is very sad to see people lacking of common sense and do not have the sufficient knowledge to “Share our Roads” with other vehicle users. Hence, these recklessness has caused many unwanted incidences and accidents to happen which caused the loss of innocent lives.
Road is for everyone, therefore we would like to create awareness of “Share our Roads” Campaign to highlight the safety distance between vehicles and cyclists.

KUALA LUMPUR: An unemployed man pleaded not guilty at the Ampang Magistrates Court to driving recklessly and causing the death of cyclist Rafizi Hamdan, last month.
Mohd Nabil Azhar Yahya Arif, 20, allegedly drove in a reckless manner and caused the death of Rafizi, 37, at the Middle Ring Road 2 (MRR2) Hulu Kelang, Ampang at 7.45 am, on March 18.
He faces up to 10 years in prison or a maximum fine of RM20,000 and possible suspension of his driver’s licence, upon conviction under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
Magistrate Farah Hazwani Osman allowed bail at RM5,000 with one surety and ordered his licence to be suspended for the duration of the trial.
DPP Eliana Ismail prosecuted and the accused was unrepresented.
Remention was fixed for May 21.
The media had previously reported the death of the cyclist in a suspected hit-and-run incident on the MRR2 near Taman Melawati heading towards Gombak.
The driver, believed to be in a Proton Saga, apparently crashed into the victim from behind and fled the scene, leaving his broken number plate at the spot.
The late Rafizi, a CIMB Bank employee, was reportedly on his way to join members of the Le Tour Club at 12th mile, Gombak. – Bernama

ENGINEER-CUM-GREEN consultant Timothy Wooi is known as ‘Eco-MacGyver’ and ‘Green Inventor’ among his friends and neighbours in Kedah because he never lets anything go to waste.
Ooi, who believes in the proverb ‘one man’s trash is another man’s treasure’, has to date created more than 50 items from recycled household furniture, bicycles and even telephones.
“I will try my best to fix or reinvent anything I find to make it useful.

“I turn idle resources to something new to help reduce waste in order to conserve the environment,” said the 52-year-old who has been involved in his favourite pastime for the past 10 years.
Among his prized creation is his Penny Farthing which he built from recycled parts at a cost of RM800.
The bicycle was featured in The Star when he rode it in Penang during the Car-Free Day on Dec 12, last year.

Wooi also said that so far, he had built eight different bicycles including a unique one from an old Harley Davidson frame.
The inventor in him saw him converting his attic into a room equipped with a pulley and an exit door in case of floods, as his house in Taman Bahagia, Jitra, Kedah, is located in a flood-prone area.
“I built it at a cost of RM6,000 using recycled materials,” he said, adding that he had the pulley installed to carry up necessary items in the event of floods.

Wooi had also built a boat using pieces of used wood which came in handy during the major floods which hit Kedah in 2005 and 2010.
“I used my boat to ferry neighbours out to safer grounds during the floods.
“I am proud and happy that my inventions could benefit others too,” he said.
His other worthy inventions include a portable solar charged power supply gadget built from recyclable batteries of obsolete laptops.
Among Wooi’s projects in the pipeline are developing his own Tim’s Waterfuel — a HHO generator that supplements gasoline usage in automobiles whilst producing cleaner emission towards a greener environment.
“I will continue making gadgets using available resources around to add value to the environment without compromising the future,” he added.
Wooi also hoped that the younger generation would be more creative and innovative in an effort to reduce waste and protect the earth.

Program KAYUHAN AMAL anjuran Badan Amal Kebajikan Nun dibawah Majlis Perundingan Pertubuhan Islam Malaysia (MAPIM) dan juga UniKL MSI bertujuan untuk mengumpul dana Projek Pembangunan Hospital Kanak-kanak Gaza, Palestin. Sumbangan penyertaan RM10.00 dengan sebahagiannya akan disalurkan ke dalam tabung Projek Pembangunan Hospital Kanak-kanak Gaza, Palestin.
